What is a private prescription?
A private prescription is a service that allows you to obtain prescription medications directly without visiting your GP's practice. This streamlined approach is ideal for individuals with busy schedules or limited access to healthcare facilities. Our service aims to make your healthcare journey more convenient and efficient.
How does our private prescription service work?
Online Consultation
We will send you a link in your booking confirmation email to complete a patient questionnaire and provide relevant details about your medical history, current symptoms, and any medications you may be taking. This information helps our healthcare professionals gain a comprehensive understanding of your situation.
Professional Evaluation
Our qualified prescribers will thoroughly review your information. They will assess your condition and contact you to discuss this. If appropriate, they will recommend suitable treatment options tailored to your needs. Our experienced team ensures that you receive expert guidance and appropriate prescriptions.
Prescription
If our prescribers determine that a prescription is necessary, we will issue it electronically and send it to one of our branches for you to collect. You can also have this sent to another pharmacy of your choice. You will need to pay for the medication prescribed when you collect it.
Ongoing Support
Our commitment to your well-being extends beyond issuing prescriptions. We offer ongoing support and are available to address any questions or concerns you may have regarding your treatment. Our team is dedicated to providing the highest level of care throughout your healthcare journey.
Disclaimer:
Our private prescription service is not suitable for all medical conditions. Our prescribers cannot prescribe medication for certain conditions, including but not limited to life-threatening emergencies, complex mental health disorders, and other cases that require specialised or ongoing care. If your condition is beyond the scope of this service, we recommend consulting your GP or an appropriate healthcare professional for further guidance.

Offered me a blood pressure check which I happily accepted. Attended on the same day. Asked if it were possible to pay for a flu jab (I’m not eligible yet) and got that at the same time! Excellent!! Very polite and helpful.

I booked the ear syringing service at Midway Pharmacy in Morley through the online booking system. Really friendly and professional service from Sharon. I’m really grateful to be able to hear properly again. The treatment only took a few minutes and Sharon is clearly really well trained at what she does. Thank you again.

Yes, pharmacists can prescribe. However, they must take on an extended role as "prescribers" under certain conditions to do this. There are two main types of pharmacist prescribers in the UK:
Independent Prescribers: These pharmacists have completed additional training and are qualified to prescribe medications for any medical condition within their area of competence. Independent prescribers can prescribe a wide range of medications, similar to doctors and nurse prescribers.
Supplementary Prescribers: These pharmacists work alongside doctors or other qualified prescribers in a patient's care. They can prescribe medications within a specific patient management plan the doctor and the pharmacist agreed upon.
Both types of pharmacist prescribers undergo additional training and hold an appropriate qualification to take on this extended role. However, they cannot prescribe all medications, and they must follow specific regulations and guidelines.
